How this was shot:- NikonD300s, 105mm, CMC 1, dualYSD2.A rare color variety of the rareshrimp Izucaris masudai. Thisshrimp is known to be dwellersin deeper depths such as 18meters down to 60m or so...Shooting this shrimp in suchshort time window is thechallenge. How this was shot:-Using a Canon PowershotS95 and a cheap torchwas all I needed toachieve this shot. Diopterlens is not necessary forthe size of this subject(bubble shell). A torchwith a hot spot is a verygood tool for lighting for itcan achieve snoot-likeeffects. Torch waspositioned slightly behindthe subject. Back-lightingthe subject is sometimescrucial for we don't wantthe lens to be lit up aswell to avoid lens glare.Underwater photographyfor this subject is bestdone with a handheldtorch.17 of 24
